קץ
קֵץm. (b. h.; קָצַץ) end, term, designated time, esp. the time of redemption. Gen. R. s. 44 (ref. to Is. 41:5) זה שרוי בקִיצּוֹ של עולםוכ׳ this one (Abraham) dwelt in one extreme part of the world, and that one (Shem) in the other Ned.41a כיון שהגיע קיצווכ׳ when a mans time (to die) has come. Meg.3a משום דאית ביה קץ משיח because therein (in the Hagiographa) are contained intimations about the Messianic term (the Book of Daniel). Snh.92b שמנו לקץ וטעו who ventured calculations as to the time of the redemption from Egypt, and made a mistake; Ex. R. s. 20 יצאו … שלם הקץ they left Egypt before the predestined term had expired; a. fr.Pl. קִצִּים, קִצִּין, קִי׳. Ab. Zar.61b ממונה הבא לק׳ a superintendent that comes at regular times. Snh.97b מחשבי ק׳, v. חָשַׁב. Ib. כלו כל הק׳ ואיןוכ׳ all the dates of redemption (calculated from the Scriptures) have passed, and the thing depends only on repentance. Cant. R. to II, 8; Lev.
